Luxury Headband
The brand keeps a lot of different ribbons and colors on hand, so it's smart to make multiple products and from the same ribbon supply.
Using the same techniques of an established barrette, I used existing ribbon to prototype a luxury headband.
"Most Complicated Construction"
Special consideration was given to how to end the tips, because the width of the ribbon wouldn't fit comfortably behind the ears. An easy to follow instruction page was crucial to go forward with this design so it could be made over and over again with consistency by newly trained makers. By using the same skills across multiple products, you reduce the amount of time spent in training.
These new construction skills have been continuously implemented in further product development:
-
Velvet Finish on Inside
-
Hand Gathered Ribbon
-
Tapered Tips

Hits and Misses
This bow was born out of an attempt to utilize deadstock fabrics from another product that wasn't selling. Some materials can be received better in some forms than others, my task as the designer was to find a better fitting silhouette.
Its trademark is the layered look of the tails, to show off the delicate drape of the fabric.
Trial and Error
Actualizing this bow was tricky, having two distinct looks laying flat vs. hanging on the body. I developed a bow hanger to aid in this development process. This new product doubled as a storage solution for the established consumer base that does own multiple bows in multiple colors.
Released in 2022.
